32 km. Below Cataract Pass to Waterfalls Campground
Soon after we started hiking this morning we met up with another hiker. Gerald is from Germany and he’s hiking much of the GDT plus several other routes. He has 11 days of food in his pack now to get him to Jasper. He started this leg with 15. Ugh! We have 4 counting today and had 6 a couple days ago. Gerald follows Rockin’s blog, ladyonarock.com, which is way cool. He was great to talk to and he walked with us for most of the day until he went a different direction after Jonas Shoulder. New conversations were most welcome.

Rockin taking a photo of Gerald. Check out ladyonarock.com to see the pic.

We were above treeline for most of the day and had splendid views.
One of the high points is called Caribou Antlers. Guess why?

It was cloudy and cool all day and looked like it was going to rain. It started once after lunch but that was short lived. Not long after Gerald left it started raining more. After walking in it for awhile we were able to put up our tents during a lull in the rain. It is now raining pretty hard. Night is a good time for rain.
Funny name for a Notch—Cataract Pass! I’m having cataract surgery in a few weeks so the name caught my eye—my good eye. lol. I’m enjoying your journals!
I hope the surgery goes well and you get to see many more mountains.
How lovely it is, to read everything in stereo! First one of you then the other…
Sounds like it was a great day with new conversationalist and beautiful country!! Of course the rain had to come and spoil it but at least it held off til “camp time”
Stunning country and photos. Cool to see the photo of Rockin’ shooting Gerald. Assume that is what Jerry is talking about.
Photographing of course!
Just meant, seeing the same trek through two different blogs, two pairs of eyes.. adds something interesting, unusual..
