Day 112. Te Anau. February 22, 2016.
12 km
Mavora Lakes Rd km 2774 to Princhester Rd km 2782.
10 more kilometers on the gravel road then 2 more on the busy highway and it was time to hitch to Te Anau.
I turned on my phone and had a message from a friend from home, Free Range who I met on the PCT. I knew she was going to be in New Zealand at the end of February. She had just flown in to Christchurch and was on a bus to Te Anau. She told me what backpackers hostel she was staying at. I had checked that one and others last night. All booked. I phoned anyway and bingo, Leo and I had a place to stay.
Leo and I went to the DOC Visitor Center to check out the possibility of hiking the Kepler Track. The weather forecast made it not appealing.
Free Range and I went out for a great dinner. Leo resupplied and made plans to leave in the morning. I want a day off.
I may never forgive you for NOT posting a picture of you with Free Range!!!
Ha, ha. Yeah, I blew it.
