I leave for my next adventure October 28, 2015. I will be attempting a thru hike of New Zealand’s long trail, Te Araroa. In the native Maori language that translates to “The Long Pathway.” How long? 3000 kilometers. That is 1860 miles. I start at the northern tip of the North Island at Cape Reinga and head for Bluff at the southern tip of the South Island.
I am super excited. I am also scrambling to get everything done so I can leave for 5+ months. I’m hoping to get wifi often enough to update this blog frequently.
Here’s a great website if you want more info: http://www.teararoa.org.nz/
I am very interested in hikes in New Zealand. It will be fun to follow yours!
Thanks for following. Have you been to NZ?
Whewhew! No snakes!

So many things to be thankful for!
I know the coolest people. Walk well.
Ha, ha. So do I. Thank you.
Lots of sheep and lovely people!
Yes. I can’t wait.
Have a fabulous trip, I’ll be following you!
Thanks.
Great to see you last night. Bon voyage!
Thanks for dinner. It was wonderful to see you both again.
Looking forward to great pictures and stories again!
And a bike ride when I return.
I am one of your niece Mandy’s good friends and have been enjoying following your blog! Have a wonderful trip – I look forward to your updates : )
Nice to e-meet you. Thanks for following along.
Looking forward to details of your trip…like, for instance, will you be just rehydrating your freeze-dried food with cold water, as has worked just fine for you on past thru hikes, I.e., you won’t be using a stove to boil water?
Hi TarpMan! I will be buying from stores along the way. No home dehydrated meals this time. I’m bringing a stove because I think that will give me more options. Hot food!
