In 2009 when I hiked out of Sierra City it was in the afternoon and it was hot. I remember the climb as steep and hard. My friend, Carrie (ultra runner, ultra fit ad 20 years younger), even carried my water up the hill. Timing made all the difference. It was cool and the switchbacks seemed easy.

Now camped with Atlas, Turkey Feather and Six Pack.
