Hauhungaroa Hut km 1014 to Taumarunui km 1053

7 km after the hut we left the forest. Some Maori’s showed us their eel catch from last night.

The rest of the way into Taumarunui was on the road.

We got to Sam’s Shop. Usually eleven year old Sam sells eggs and vegetables here. Now he provides water and candy to TA walkers.

Across from his house is a beautiful view of Mount Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu.

Sam was at school when we got to his house. One kilometer later we passed his school and he and his buddies ran out to meet us.

We asked the boys where we should eat and they all shouted Mr Pizza.

Walking thru town we ran into Paul from Denmark. He also had a ULA Olm pack.
