Day 13. Ngunguru. November 15, 2015.
Great sleep last night and no condensation this morning.
Here’s a picture of one of the gardens we raided for dinner last night. Tracy says she will need to convert more yard to garden for the hikers next year.
We walked over the longest footbridge in the southern hemishere. 493 steps. 395 meters. Then we walked with cows on the edge of the estuary.
We had beach walking….
….rock scrambling….
…..monument admiring….
…..views back to Whananaki…..
…..climbs to a lookout….
……and Llama sitings on another of our own alternates.
Once we got into the town of Ngunguru we stopped at the first cafe and ate like pigs. Then we started walking out of town until we saw this….
So of course we turned a walked to this….
The microwave had an assortment of items hikers mi h t want. Helen got a razor. Alex needed shoe laces. I got an orange. Then Linda and Jim came out of their house and invited us in for tea and snacks. We chatted with them for awhile and then took off for The Riverbend B&B. Hilton and Melva allow hikers to camp in their garden.
Just too nice. Wow!
Yes
Microwave magic! Now that’s unusual and cool.
And on this trail, so unexpected.
