A Sunny Day on the Chilkoot Trail

Alaska Day 9 – 7/4/15

What a difference a day makes! Glorious sun!  Views! This would have been the day to hike over Chilkoot Pass. Oh well.  It was a great day to hike out of the Chilkoot Trail and ride the railroad back to Skagway.  We all took a quick dip in Lindeman Lake too.

Saturday 4th of July isn’t a great time to not have reservations for a bed.  But I got super lucky.  The owner of The Historic Skagway Inn let me pitch my tent in his garden!  I got a towel and shower too. Then I went over to The Red Onion for celebratory beers and nachos with my new friends.

Matt’s entry in the log book in the  Lindeman shelter:

I got even luckier. I got 3 new friends!
