TRT Day 8 – 6/9/15
17.9 miles to just past hwy 89
Coffee and gourmet breakfast. What a way to start the day. We finally started hiking at 10:15. We crossed paths with another 15 PCT hikers and of course we had to talk to each one.
Constantly changing clouds made for dramatic skies. The forecast was 80% chance of rain. Several times we thought we were going to get dumped on. But except for a couple of sprinkles nothing happened.
Late in the day I found a morel mushroom. Wired and Rockin’ laughed at my excitement but then helped me find more. My mosquito headnet suddenly became a multi use item.
We are now camped near hwy 89 in a surprisingly great spot. Flat, pine needles, cell service, sort of a view and 22.3 miles from the end and our cars.
What a great hike! Thanks for sharing. Stop by Honker Pass some time, we’d be glad to see you.
Thank you. I would love to come by sometime. I’m leaving for Alaska next week. Are you there in the fall?
Did you eat the morel mushroom you found?
Yes. We ate them once we got back to my house in Sacramento. Delicious!
