Day 128
8/8/14
31.1 miles
2194.5 total miles
One ridge had great views. I could see Mts Hood, Adams, Rainier and St Helens. Too far away for great pictures but it was great just being there.
I was walking in trees the rest of the day…. not my favorite type of hiking. I walk for views. I did find some chanterelles. Since I don’t have a stove there will be no eating.
I found a bolete mushroom. Not sure which species.
I’m camped next to a dirt road with Lionheart. I was kind of disappointed when I got here. A surprise water cache was empty. There is always excited anticipation when you open a plastic bin and look inside and disappointment when it’s empty. About 2 minutes after I got here Toad drove up. He maintains this cache and was here to refill it. Score! Toad also maintains 12 miles of trail. I thanked him profusely. It’s oh so nice when all the fallen logs have been cleared and the brush cut back. It is a lot of work to do that. So thanks. Toad also hiked the trail in 2 big chunks 2005 and 2006.
