Day 16. Mangawhai Heads. November 18, 2015
40.5 km.
Uretiti Camp km 413 to Mangawhai Heads km 450.5
Nathan and I left Brett who needed to hitch into Whangerei. After a couple more kilometers of low tide beach walking we got to Waipu. A local told us to go to The Deli Cafe for breakfast. It was awesome.
The route goes inland thru farming and logging areas. A guy on a bike rode by and knew all about the Te Araroa. After a few minutes of chatting Tony invited us to stay at his bache (vacation house) in Mangawhai Heads. Of course we said yes.
Tony’s place was right across from the Wood Street Pub which had delicious food.
A bed tonight! Thank you, Tony.
I want to do this trail!!! You are an inspiration! Where do I begin my planning? Love your journals!
It’s like the steepest, baddest parts of the AT on steroids. So worth it. Read, train and talk to me after I finish.
Yum & Beautiful!!! We love your stories Ms. Nancy!!!
Thank you!
