Day 8. Timing is Everything. July 30, 2016.

6am to 8:45pm.
Just before Blaurock Pass to Iceberg Lake Pass.
10 miles.

Almost 15 hours to walk 10 miles! Yes, it was hard and I am tired. But not the most exhausted I’ve been. Maybe I am getting used to this.

Gannet Glacier after West Sentinel Pass

So many steep climbs today! Blaurock Pass, Sentinel Pass, plus several unnamed ones. We had lots of snow walking and used microspikes.

Plus we walked on two glaciers. Gannet Glacier and Grasshopper Glacier.

Wired says "go that way"

Just after we passed this tarn it started raining for the first time since we’ve been in the Winds. Dry weather is not normal. We have been lucky. The rain stopped after 10 minutes.

From this lake we could see our next glacier. Grasshopper Glacier.

We walked UP to the divide on the glacier.

Finally we are off the glacier and on the divide.

Baker Lake, west of the divide. We walked DOWN to the pass from where I took this photo..

We set up our tents right on Iceberg Lake Pass and just got into them as it started raining. Hard! Plus lightening which was far enough away to not be scary. What perfect timing.
